I first came across
Barrington Blue on
Eastside Handmade's Instagram account when they gave Carrie (the genius behind Barrington Blue) a shout-out along with a gorgeous snapshot of a set of vintage textile pillows. Since moving into my new apartment just north of Griffith Park, I've been on the lookout for Turkish, Moroccan, South American, and Mexican rugs and pillows. Places like Cost Plus World Market & fleas/swaps in LA (city & county) are always good places to find imported decor. However, it's absolutely terrific to find handcrafted goods in your own city that are made by passionate artists/creators.
Carrie Olshan is a Los Angeles transplant originally from New York and travels to Europe & Mexico have inspired her work. Her website offers one-of-a-kind upholstered pieces (ottomans, pillows, cushions, etc)- the textiles are to die for. Her attention to detail and quality are displayed in some of her pictured step-by-step blog posts so be sure to visit
